Respiratory Complaints
Respiratory complaints include anything that affects our airways or breathing. The upper respiratory system is comprised of the mouth, nose, sinuses and throat, while the lower respiratory system involves the lungs and bronchial tubes. Infections of the respiratory system may cause coughing, pain, sinus pressure and congestion, difficulty breathing and fever. Respiratory complaints may be brought on by colds, the flu, bronchitis, pneumonia and other infections. Allergies and asthma are also responsible for many respiratory problems. Once the cause of the respiratory complaint is diagnosed, the condition can be treated appropriately. Some respiratory ailments respond to rest, increased fluids and saline spray, while others may require antibiotics, antihistamines or nebulizer treatments.
