Preparing for Camp: Last Minute Physicals and Vaccinations

Thursday, June 20th, 2019, 9:07 pm

Summer is a very busy time of year, especially if you have children and work outside the home. It is very easy for dates to sneak up on you and catch you unprepared. Due to insurance purposes and other concerns, most summer camps require that your child is up to date on vaccinations as well as have a complete physical. When it’s the day before camp and you discover you’ve forgotten about these important requirements, it can lead to a panic.

Most Camps Start on the Weekend

Most camps start on the weekend. And if you don’t realize until Thursday afternoon or Friday night that your child leaves for camp on Saturday, you likely aren’t going to be able to get in to see your regular doctor. Our urgent care clinic is able to get you in on the same day, so that you can take care of the physical and vaccinations and get home to pack.

Your Child May Be Missing Vaccinations

You may think that your child is up to date on their vaccinations, but this may not be the case. Most parents take care of vaccinations in the fall when they are required for school. However, vaccinations are actually due upon your child’s birthday. It is possible that you could be told your child is missing a vaccination when you go to drop them off for camp. Our urgent care can get you in quickly to get the missing vaccination so your child can still attend.

If you are desperately searching for a way to get your child prepared for camp, don’t worry about not being able to see your doctor. Our urgent care staff is prepared and able to take care of these matters for you quickly and easily. Contact us today or walk in for an appointment.
